THE CHALLENGE: As an established player in the construction industry, BPH had been supplying excavators and hydraulic attachments for over 40 years, but with a change of location pending they felt the time was right to reconsider their branding. We were commissioned to create a new identity that would be fresh and modern whilst reflecting the company’s remarkable heritage and remaining instantly recognisable. In addition, the new brand needed to be flexible and to work coherently for two specialist divisions, BPH Plant Hire and BPH Attachments.
THE OUTCOME: Whilst retaining the existing BPH corporate colours and a suggestion of the ‘triple-triangle’ device from their old logo, we converted the three uppercase characters to a curvy, lowercase, slab serif typeface which exudes strength and stability. Following a very positive response to the initial logo concepts, we proceeded to design all manner of branded collateral, from small items like business cards and promotional biscuit tins, all the way up to signwriting for an articulated truck and a 45 ton excavator!
